My Cultural Background: What Makes It Special?

Everyone has a cultural background that shapes who they are. I’m very interested in our customs. It can play a role in our lives. In this essay, I will describe my cultural background and explain what makes it special to me.

One important part of my cultural background is Chinese new year. This is special because it’s the most important festival in Taiwan and annual. A good example is we’ll have a family gathering on Chinese new year eve. Then, we can get some red envelopes. Because of this, I feel proud of being blessed and like to share it with others.

Another important part of my background is the moon festival. This is meaningful because it gives a chance to gather family and have a BBQ. For example, usually the moon festival is in late September, we’ll call some friends or family to have a BBQ . This helps me understand why reunion is essential. Clearly, reunion is an important part of my identity.

The third special part of my cultural background is night markets. There are several reasons why this is important. First,it’s a good place to hang out with family or friends . Second, there have variety of snacks, like oyster omelets or bubble tea. A good example is after school, we usually will have dinner there, and experience the lively atmosphere. This makes me feel joyful and helps me connect with my family or community. As you can see, the night market plays a big role in my life and who I am.

In conclusion, Chinese new year, moon festival, and night markets show how my cultural background is special and personal. Each part helps me understand myself and my history better. To keep my culture alive, I try to celebrate traditions with more and more people. Personally, I believe  traditions will not die. The more we respect and explore our cultural backgrounds, the more we can learn and grow.
